At a family birthday party, during the summer of 2020, and in the aftermath of the Black Lives Matter protests, we had a discussion about equal rights. Shaun remembered asking Ellis about Black Lives Matter and what he thought. Ellis said, 'they matter'. So simple, and straightforward. Ellis went on to speak passionately about the rights of many humans, including the LGBTQ+ community. We were surprised how articulate and inspiring he was. Ellis' voice will never be forgotten and we will continue to stand in solidarity with people whose rights are not met.
